March 3, 2010 – Berlin, Mass. – One man was killed and another suffered serious accident injuries in a van rollover accident that occurred at about 9:15 Tuesday morning in Berlin, Mass.
The MetroWest Daily News reports that Joseph R. Murray, 32, from Hopkinton, Mass. was driving his 2009 Chevrolet van on I-495 when something caused the van to roll several times. Joseph R. Murray sustained serious personal injuries in the van rollover crash, and was taken to UMass memorial Medical Center.
Murray’s passenger, William C. Lewis, 29, of North Grafton died at the scene of the accident. Police said that he was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the I-495 accident.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. They have not yet said if weather played a role in the crash, or released any other details about the contributing factors.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
