Pregnant Mom Crashes Van Into Billerica Day Care Center

An unidentified woman crashed a minivan into a day care center in Billerica, MA this morning, authorities said. There was no one injured in the crash. However, two children were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. The woman, who was pregnant, may have sought medical attention on her own, Billerica Deputy Fire Chief Tom Ferraro said.

Josh Reynolds for The Boston Globe

Ferraro said that the police and firefighters were quick to respond to the crash at the KinderCare Learning Center. "We prepared for the worst, and as it turned out, the staff did a great job, and the fire guys got there and got the kids out," Ferraro said.

According to the police, the driver was attempting to park the minivan when the crash occurred. It is thought that  her foot may have slipped off the brake and hit the gas pedal, though the police are still investigating the cause of the incident.

There were about 100 children at the day care center at the time of the crash, who were evacuated by the police, firefighters and day care staff members.
