Several Injured in Boxford Truck Accident

October 13, 2009 - Boxford - Early Monday morning, a semi-truck and van collided on Route 95, according to the Salem News. The accident caused the truck to rollover on the freeway, which prompted police to close portions of Route 95 near Mascononet Regional School.

There's no word on what caused the truck accident, but several occupants in the van suffered minor injuries. The Massachusetts State Police did not immediately know how many occupants were in the van, but none of their injuries appear serious. The driver of the semi-truck escaped unscathed. None of the parties involved in the truck crash have been identified.

We are thankful that such a serious truck accident did not result in any fatalities. Our firm joins the families and friends of those involved in praying that their loved ones recover soon.

According to the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security's 2006 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 404 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.

We understand that the Boxford Police Department's Accident Division is looking into the truck accident. However, even while the police are investigating Monday's crash, we suggest that those injured consider consulting a Massachusetts personal injury lawyer.

August 10, 2009 - Quincy - A 48-year-old man from Quincy, whose name is not being released by police, sustained serious injuries after being run over by a van while attempting to jump-start his car in a friend's back yard.

The victim was trying to use the van to jump-start his car and was standing in front of the van holding jumper cables when the van started rolling, hitting the victim and crashing through a wooden fence into an adjacent backyard 20 ft away, according to reports. The friend who was in the driver's seat of the van attempted to back up the vehicle to free the victim, but ended up running him over with the van, causing serious head injuries.

The Quincy man was transferred to Boston Medical Center. Police believe the 2 men involved in the van accident were friends, but are still conducting a homicide investigation, as is the procedure with car accidents that result in serious injury.

5-year-old Girl Injured by Van

June 18, 2009 - Abington - A 5-year-old girl was hit by a full-sized van yesterday at the intersection of North and Spruce Streets in North Abington. While the young girl remained conscious after the van accident, her injured were described as "serious" and she was flown to a Boston area hospital.

The female driver of the van remained at the scene following the crash and is said to be cooperating with police. It is not yet known whether the 5-year-old hit by the van was in the crosswalk at the time of the accident or if she was with her parents or other guardians.

This is the second time in a week that a vehicle has struck a pedestrian child. 4-year-old Diya Patel was killed last week when a senior driver struck the small child as she was crossing the street with her family.
