Last Saturday George Claborn, 55, of Amherst, NH had a serious motorcycle crash with a Jeep Cherokee on Elm Street in Milford, MA. He survived and was airlifted by helicopter to the UMass Medical Center in Worcester for treatment.
We are happy to hear that his health is improving after the crash, and is now in “fair condition.”
One of the saving factors in his survival was the proper safety equipment, including full leather gear, boots and a helmet, his wife, Judy Claborn said.
Claborn suffered broken bones in the crash, and was trapped under the Jeep with multiple injuries, Nashua Telegraph reported. He had to be extracted by the rescuers and taken to the hospital. He would need surgery, but luckily, he did not suffer head injuries or internal bleeding.
According to the newspaper, the accident occurred when Claborn, riding his Kawasaki Ninja west on Elm Street, collided with the Jeep. The driver of the Jeep, Jill Connolly, 35, of Temple was not injured.
Milford Police Department’s Technical Accident Reconstruction team, who are investigating the accident, have ruled out alcohol and speed as the likely causes for the crash.
This accident is a great reminder that wearing a helmet can save your life. It is one of the important factors that can determine the outcome between life and death, and we congratulate Mr Claborn on his wise choise to wear one. We sincerely wish him a speedy recovery.
