Morning commuters on both sides on I-93 were delayed due to least six accidents near the Massachusetts - New Hampshire border, the latest of which occurred at about 9:15am on I-93 South, the Eagle Tribune reports.
Starting with the motorcycle accident that occurred around 4:30 am on the New Hampshire part of I-93, motor vehicle accidents kept state police and rescue crews busy. The first accident, involving a motorcycle, occurred as the motorcyclist struck a deer and suffered injuries from the impact.
The second motorcycle accident occurred about an hour later on I-93 South near Derry, NH, just north of Dascomb Road. The 2000 Harley Davidson rider crashed on the highway, and sustained back and neck injuries, and was taken to Lawrence General Hospital. Andover police said he was still in the emergency room.
The Eagle Tribune reported that the next three accidents also occurred in New Hampshire:
- The first was on 93 North at Exit 4, 6:50 a.m.
- The next was on the southbound side, Exit 3, at 7:27 a.m.
- The last was northbound, north of the Windham scales, at 7:35 a.m.
We are still waiting for more details about these accidents.
The last (9:15am) accident took place on I-93 in Andover, when a car drove off the road and struck the signs at the side of the road bursting in flames and causing minor injuries to the driver, and major delays to the other drivers on the road. Firefighters were quick to respond and brought the fire under control within minutes. Rescue crews and State Police are still on scene.
We sincerely hope that these accidents will not cause any serious injuries and that the injured drivers will recover soon. We also hope that the high rate of accidents this morning will not be repeated on other days.
