Washington D.C.-
The
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision announced a voluntary recall today of
wooden bunk beds sold exclusively at Big Lots Stores, Inc. across the U.S. The faulty wooden bunkbeds were sold between May 2008 and February 2009 for approximately $300.00. There are over
20 Big Lots Stores in Massaschusetts and New Hampshire alone.
Consumers have been advised to stop using the product immediately. There have been 14 reports of the slats that support the upper mattress and/or the side support railings cracking and causing the bunkbeds to collapse. It is unclear at this time how many children have been injured as a result of this defective product.
