Last week, luxury car manufacturer BMW announced that it is recalling almost 200,000 vehicles in North America due to a braking issue. The recall stems from oil that could potentially drip from a valve within the brake vacuum pump, eventually causing the leaking oil to impact elements within the braking system itself. BMW stated that more pressure would be needed to apply the brakes if the problem persisted.
Even though there haven’t been any accidents or reported injuries, the concerns remain and that is why the recall has been put into place.
Here are the models that are affected by the recall:
o 2002-2008 BMW 745i/Li, 750i/Li, 760i/Li
o 2007-2008 BMW Alpina B7
o 2004-2010 BMW 645i and 650i
o 2004-2010 BMW 545i and 550i
o 2003-2010 BMW Rolls-Royce Phantom
While North America has the bulk of the recall with just about 200,000 vehicles needing attention, an additional 145,000 BMWs are being recalled in other areas around the globe. Owners of the recalled vehicles have been informed and were advised to contact their dealerships.
