Braintree Woman Killed in Motorcycle Crash

A Braintree woman was killed in a single-motorcycle crash in Somerville on Friday night. Police said the woman, Sinead Lovett, 29 was thrown off the motorcycle in the crash sustaining fatal injuries.

Lovett was riding on the back of a 2003 Harley Davidson driven by Richard Migliacci, 37 of Somerville, who lost control of the motorcycle on Route 28 and crashed it into a curb. The impact of the crash threw both of them off the motorcycle.

Lovett was pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Migliacci was also taken to MGH for treatment - he got seriously injured in the crash. He suffered brain damage, kidney and bladder failure, a fractured hip and his stomach was torn open, and he underwent surgery on Friday night.

Two other people were also injured in a second motorcycle accident which occurred less than five hours after the first one.

Rodney Massiah, 37, and Nia Howard, 19, both of Dorchester, were injured their motorcycle crashed on I-93 North. Police said Massiah lost control over the 2003 Suzuki and crashed it just before Exit 23. These two were also taken to MGH for treatment. Both suffered serious injuries, police said.

While Migliacci's mother has reported that both Lovett and Migliacci were wearing helmets at the time of their accident, it was not certain if Massiah and Howard were wearing theirs as well.

We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sinead M. Lovett for their painfull loss. We also hope that the three other people who suffered serious injuries in motorcycle crashes will have a full recovery soon.
