Car Driver Dies in Fatal Mass. Pike Truck and Vehicle Collision

February 8, 2010 - Blandford, Mass. - The driver of a passenger vehicle died Friday night in a car and truck collision in Blandford, Mass.

According to ABC 40, the car was traveling eastbound on the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90) at about 10:25 p.m., when it veered over the median and collided head-on with a tractor trailer.

The male driver of the passenger car died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the tractor trailer, John Chamberlain, 52, suffered minor personal injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased victim, pending notification of his family. State Police continue to investigate the cause of this tragic Mass. Pike crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
