Criminal charges filed in death of jogger

Criminal charges have been filed against the postal employee who hit and killed a jogger last month.

John Cahill, 49, struck Norfolk County Corrections Officer James Zupkofska on August 22, as Zupkofska was jogging near his home in Weymouth. According to investigators, Cahill was likely speeding at the time of the accident.

Cahill has been charged with the following offenses in connection with Zupkofska's death: 

• Speeding
• Marked lanes violation
• Negligent operation so as to endanger
• Motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation

 A hearing on the charges will take place in two to three weeks, at which time a complaint may be filed requiring that Cahill be arraigned.
