Dehumidifier Recall Due to Fire or Burn Risk

December 17, 2009

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website (CPSC), Home Depot is recalling approximately 2,000 Hampton Bay Dehumidifiers. A component in the dehumidifiers can malfunction causing it to overheat and catch fire or cause serious burns to the consumer. The Home Depot has received 18 reports of the dehumidifiers catching fire and one report of a consumer being burned on the arm. The dehumidifiers were sold at Home Depot for between $120 and $150 and were made in China. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact the home depot at (800) 553-3199.
