Driver Identified 2 Months After Fatal Accident

January 22, 2010 - Reading - Police have finally released the identity of the driver of a pickup truck that collided with a motorcycle on Nov. 19th, killing both occupants of the motorcycle.

According to reports in The Eagle Tribune, 52-year-old Robert Kwmuntis was driving a friend's Chevy pickup truck around 10 a.m. on High Street when he attempted to make a left hand turn onto Lowell Street (Route 129) and collided with a motorcycle. Both of the riders on that motorcycle, 32-year-old Michael A. D'Amore and 25-year-old Penney Jean "PJ" Richards, were killed as a result of the fatal crash. Kwmuntis was not injured in the accident.

Due to a complete lack of witnesses, police did not release the name of the pickup truck driver until now and are still awaiting an accident reconstruction report in order to determine if charges will be filed against Robert Kwmuntis. Local residents in the area have complained about the intersection of High and Lowell Streets, stating it is known as a dangerous area prone to car accidents due to low visibility.

Police did state that there was minimal traffic at the time of the fatal motorcycle accident and that weather was not a contributing factor.
