July 7, 2009 – Walpole – 31-year-old Jason Wayne Spurlin, the driver responsible for a July 4th car crash that took the lives of his 23-year-old fiance Amanda Murray as well as Nicholas Kelly and Anna Dubois (both 20), has a long history of criminal behavior as well as serious driving infractions.
According to new reports about the fatal drunk driving accident, Spurlin does not hold a driver’s license for Massachusetts or Florida (where he is from) and has a driving record that includes a previous hit-and-run as well as a conviction for driving without a license. Spurlin’s criminal history includes charges cocain posession, burglary, grand theft and escape, and drunk driving.
On July 4th Spurlin was driving 70 mph in a 25-30 mph zone when he crashed his Jeep Cherokee into a tree in Walpole around 1 a.m.
Spurlin is still at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and has been formally charged with operating without a license and driving under the influence of alcohol.
