Driver Injured After Striking Utility Pole in Carver SUV Crash

March 5, 2010 – Carver, Mass. – A woman suffered personal injuries after she crashed her SUV into a utility pole on Wednesday evening in Carver, Mass.

reports that Kim Bourne, 42, of Carver was driving her Jeep Cherokee at about 7:20 p.m. on Pond Street when her vehicle struck a utility pole near the side of the road.

The force of the SUV accident knocked live electrical wires from the pole to the ground, causing police officers to have to shut down the area for about 1 hour while they cleaned up and investigated the cause of the crash and the extent of the damage. Fortunately, no one was hurt as a result of the live wires being on the ground. 

Bourne was transported to Plymouth’s Jordan Hospital with personal injuries described as non-life-threatening. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

The Carver SUV crash meant that area residents and businesses were without power while authorities rectified the situation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
