A woman was seriously injured in a car-motorcycle collision caused by drunk driving in Salem, NH on July 4th. She was travelling on a motorcycle when she got struck by the drunk driver, Donald Johnson, 50, of Salem on Sunday.
News reports on the accident noted that Johnson was on his way to the fireworks along with his son in the car and was going south on Route 28 in a Toyota Avalon when he entered an intersection. As he took a left turn onto Main Street he struck a motorcycle with two people on it at the intersection traveling north.
According to the police, both of them got injured. Johnson failed a field sobriety test and was taken to Parkland Medical Center in Derry for blood tests, police said.
He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child. He was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Salem District Court for arraignment next month.
