December 22, 2009 – Longmeadow - An elderly woman sustained personal injuries in a collision with a dump truck Friday afternoon in Longmeadow, Mass.
Masslive.com reports that Elizabeth G. Bauer, 73, of Somers, Conn. was driving west on Converse Street, when she veered into the eastbound lane, where she caused a dump truck to swerve out of her way.
The truck, belonging to Rosati Construction flipped onto its side, crushing Bauer’s car and spilling a load of dirt.
Bauer was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of personal injuries. There were no reports of accident injuries suffered by the truck driver. Authorities continue to investigate the truck crash.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
