Fireworks Safety for Pets

During the hustle and bustle of preparing for holiday celebrations, including having your own fireworks show, or attending a professional show, sometimes people can forget the effect fireworks have on their pets.

Fireworks can cause pet to:

  • Get very frightened
  • Try to hide
  • Get very stressed out
  • Try to run away

Remember to take good care of your pet during this time and to remind your children as well. Pets and fireworks can create a potentially dangerous situation as frightened animals can hurt a child unintentionally. Watch both your pet and your child closely.

Tips for Pets and Fireworks Safety

  • Don’t take pets to the fireworks displays
  • Don’t leave pets in your car
  • Keep pets indoors in a quiet area
  • Don’t leave your pet unattended
  • Check with your vet in case your pet requires some sedation medication
