Five Children and 2 Women Injured in Wareham Route 25 Car Accident


March 15, 2010 – Wareham, Mass. –
A car accident on Saturday morning in Wareham, Mass. left several victims, including 5 children, with serious personal injuries.

Cape Cod Times
reports that at about 11:15 a.m., Daylene Tropeano, 41, of Buzzards Bay, was driving her 1999 GMC Suburban in the center lane of westbound Route 25, when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 1999 Toyota Avalon driven by Louise Houle, 66, of Falmouth, Mass.

The force of the crash caused both vehicles to roll over, causing serious injuries to both women. Also injured in the crash were 5 children who were in the SUV. Police have not yet released the names of the child victims, which include a 9-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy who suffered serious injuries, and were taken to Boston’s Children’s Hospital.

A 1-year-old girl, a 7-year-old boy, and a 4-year-old boy were also transported to a local hospital for the treatment of minor accident injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the Route 25 crash, and there are reports that it was raining heavily at the time of the accident.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
