Galluccio Fails Alcohol Test After Hit-and-Run Conviction

December 22, 2009 - Cambridge - Less than one week after being sentenced in a hit-and-run crash that caused personal injuries for two victims, Massachusetts State Senator Anthony D. Galluccio has failed a random alcohol test.

The alcohol testing was part of a sentence given to Galluccio, who recently was found guilty of an Oct. 4 Cambridge hit-and-run accident that injured two people, including a 13-year-old boy.

The Boston Herald reports that Galluccio blamed his choice of toothpaste for his failure of the random alcohol testing. Galluccio had agreed to abstain from alcohol as part of his sentence, which included home confinement, instead of jail time.

The court will review Galluccio's hit-and-run driving case to determine if he will be sent to jail for violating the terms of his probation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts
