When it comes time to upgrade your car, you tend to put a considerable amount of time into the process. You need safety, comfort, and maybe some style thrown into one convenient vehicle. Research and word-of-mouth both play a role in your decision. However, even when you find the perfect car that has shelf upon shelf of awards, you may find yourself affected by something beyond your (cruise) control.
A news brief out yesterday informed Honda drivers of a considerable recall for some of their vehicles. There are renewed concerns over the ignition lever, which could potentially allow for your key to be removed before you put the car in park.
Honda representatives stated this may cause cars to roll and, as a result, there is greater risk for an accident to occur.
The latest recall will affect just over 384,000 Honda models with automatic transmissions, specifically the 2003 Accord, 2003 Civic, and 2003-2004 Element.
This is Honda’s third recall in seven years for the very same ignition issue.
In a statement released this past Monday of the recent ignition problem, American Honda Motor Co. explained, “When Honda identifies concerns of this nature, nothing is more important to the company than fulfilling our obligation and responsibility to alert our customers.”
They will be informing drivers of the affected models towards the end of September as to how to proceed in getting their vehicles evaluated and fixed. The car company had been made aware of numerous incidents where the ignition switch had malfunctioned, with one of those incidents resulting in injury.

Once Honda takes care of this most recent concern, let’s hope this will be the last recall we’ll recall.
