March 12, 2010 – Lawrence, Mass. – Two people suffered serious injuries after an auto accident that involved a bus and a Toyota sedan on Wednesday afternoon in Lawrence, Mass.
The Eagle Tribune reports that a Toyota Camry was heading east on Route 114 at about 4 p.m. when it struck a school bus. The bus then flipped onto its side. Two people were injured in the two-vehicle collision, but it is so far unknown which vehicle’s occupants were injured. Authorities have not yet released information about who owns the school bus or the names of the victims involved in the crash.
Police said there were 3 people on the bus at the time of the Route 114 accident. The occupants were the driver, a student, and a parent, and it is unknown who was injured. The Camry’s driver was the vehicle’s lone occupant. The car sustained extensive damage to the front end.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Foster and Andover streets. The accident remains under investigation by authorities.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
