Latest Toy Recalls: Does your baby have this monitor or rattle?

If you’re a parent, baby-proofing your house was probably right at the top of your To Do list in preparation for your new arrival.  Keeping your child safe from harm is something that comes almost automatically for most parents, so once you’ve ensured that your home is ready for your infant, you also need to make sure that the toys you have for your baby girl or boy are equally safe.

This month there were two baby product recalls for baby monitors and toy rattles.

Nearly 1,000 Levana Wireless Video Baby Monitors Model LV-TW300 were recalled over serious concerns that the monitor’s interior wires pose a potential fire hazard.  If you purchased one of these in February through May of this year, you should stop using the monitor and send it back to the manufacturer, Circus World Display.  You have the option of getting a refund or a replacement monitor.  Go to this site if you need contact information for the manufacturer.

The second recall in August was for wooden toy rattles made by P. Graham Dunn.  There is a potential hazard for children to choke on them.  ”The wooden dowels can be put in at an angle, which allows the metal rattle inside to become uncovered.”  If you purchased one of these rattles over this summer, go here for more information on contacting the manufacturer in order to receive a refund for the product.

Visit the US Consumer Product Safety Commission website for a comprehensive listing of baby toy and product recalls.
