The co-chairman of the Joint Committee on Transportation is hoping to expand upon other measures that have been considered to regulate senior driving. Sen. Steven Baddour (D-Methuen) would like to add additional measures to a proposal advocated by Sen. Brian Joyce that would retest senior drivers after the age of 85.

According to an article in the Boston Herald, Sen. Joyce is supportive of a younger retesting age if it is promoted by the Transportation committee.
Lobbyists for the elderly, and politicians like Rep. Kay Khan argue that testing seniors misses the mark. Khan has filed a bill that encourages doctors to report any patients who may not be fit to operate a vehicle to the Registry.
