License revoked after women hits 5-year-old

Nicole Barros's driver's license was revoked yesterday
after she hit five-year-old Brandy Rix this week. The child was crossing Route 139 with her mother and three siblings when Barros hit her in the sidewalk.

The little girl is recovering at a hospital with a fractured skull, broken leg, and fractured pelvis. According to a family member, she is expected to live but will need surgery to put metal pins in her leg.

Barros, 28, drives vans for her job at Exodus Medical Transportation, Inc. She has worked for the company for more than a year and transports handicapped people to and from appointments. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The Motor Vehicle Registry revoked her license but the police have not charged her, as an investigation is ongoing. Speed is suspected as a factor in the accident.
