Log Splitters Recalled Due to Amputation Risk

December 11, 2009

The Consumer Product Safety Commission, Health Canada, and MTD Products Inc, of Cleveland, Ohio have issued a recall of approximately 26,000 Log Splitters sold in the U.S. and Canada. The control handle of the log splitter could fail allowing splitting wedge to move forward unexpectedly posing a risk of amputation of fingers or hands. The log splitters cost between $1,000 and $2,300 and were sold at stores such as;

Home Depot
Lowe’s
Menards
Sears
Walmart

Consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact MTD toll free at (888) 848-6038.
