February 18, 2010 – Longmeadow, Mass. – A man suffered serious personal injuries when he was ejected from his sports car after it hit a dump truck Wednesday morning in Longmeadow, Mass.
MassLive.com reports that the crash victim was driving his BMW M3 near Converse and Dickinson Streets at about 9:50 a.m. when he collided with a dump truck. Witnesses report that the driver of the BMW drove through the intersection directly into the pathway of the oncoming truck, possibly running a red light.
After being ejected from the vehicle, the crash victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center with unknown personal injuries. He was reportedly driving southbound on Dickinson Street while the dump truck headed east on Converse Street.
Police have not yet released the name of the victim, nor of the driver of the dump truck involved in the Longmeadow crash. Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
