A Marine died today after he hit his head in a diving accident at Fuller’s Quarry on the Granite Links Golf Course in Quincy, Massachusetts. Patrick Coughlin, 21, of Milton, recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq and was partying with friends when the tragic accident occurred.
The group of five were at the quarry at 2a.m. when three of them dove into the water. Someone in the group called 911 and emergency responders located the man’s body with a mechanical arm and camera.
The Boston Herald reported that Norfolk District Attorney William Keating said the Marine’s death at the quarry was the first in a few years but there have been fatalities there in the past and it is “inherently dangerous.”
