June 9, 2009 – Portland, Maine – 40-year-old Robert LaPointe, who is currently serving 3 1/2 years in prison, reached a settlement today with the families of Suzanne Groetzinger and Terry Raye in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from a fatal drunk boating accident in August 2007.
The two victims, Suzanne Groetzinger and Terry Raye, were killed when LaPointe’s 32-foot powerboat drove over their small boat on Long Lake in western Maine.
LaPointe, who is from Massachusetts, was convicted on two counts of “aggravated operating under the influence.”
Robert LaPointe, along with his father, George LaPointe, settled the wrongful death lawsuits for an undisclosed amount.
