Our eighteen-year-old client was driving on an interstate into
the early morning sun. As he drove over a rise in the road,
he struck a car that was disabled and stopped in the middle
of the road because a 150-pound wheel and tire detached from
a tractor-trailer rig traveling in the opposite direction.
The lugs holding the tire had broken off, causing the tire
and wheel to travel across the median strip, and hit and
disable the stopped vehicle.
Awarded: $ 3.5 million
Our client an 86 year-old woman sustained an injury
after being struck by a bus. The inattentive bus driver
was warned by a passenger that the woman was crossing

fractures and soft tissue injury.
Awarded: $785,000

If you're a concerned parent, the answer you get about crib safety may depend upon whom you talk to. For instance, in the case of a 3,000,000-crib recall based on reported injuries and deaths, the manufacturer considered its merchandise safe enough.
Simplicity, Inc., agreed to a recall following notification of concern by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The federal agency requested the recall, but issued no warning to consumers. It allowed the manufacturer to offer a repair kit to address the problem rather than to demand returns of the cribs for reimbursement.
This wasn't enough assurance of future safety for some products liability attorneys and parents. Consumers who purchased the faulty baby furniture filed a class-action lawsuit demanding full refunds and other damages. After much publicity and more incident reports, another recall went out for more Simplicity models, along with this CPSC warning: "Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and find an alternative, safe sleeping environment for their baby.
Statistics grow and change over time, and regulatory oversight follows. This delay may mask the urgency of a problem. A products liability or personal injury attorney can help you if your child is injured in the wake of a recall. Parents with infants must watch out for products that may pose a threat to child safety. The CPSC does make current recall information available to those who sign up for e-mail updates.
