Nashua Man Accused of Attempting Child Rape

A New Hampshire man was accused last week of kidnapping a 7-year-old girl and attempting to rape her. In addition, the man was accused of stalking two other 11-year-old girls and photographing them.

Accodring to news reports, the above-mentioned incidents happened 15 days apart in July on the Heritage Rail Trail in downtown Nashua.

The 35-year-old alleged child molester, Daniel Casanova, 35, of Nashua, was arraigned on Aug 3rd in Nashua District Court on felony charges of kidnapping, and attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault on a 7-year-old girl, and two counts of stalking, both class A misdemeanors.

Casanova allegedly lured the 7-year-old away from her home near the Heritage Rail Trail, also known as the “bike path” on July 12. He then walked the girl along the bike path to a wooded area where he removed the bottom of her bathing suit, police said.

Luckily, the child resisted and managed to break free. She ran home and told her mother who called the police.

A couple of weeks later, on July 29 police received a complaint about a man taking photographs of two 11-year-old girls near the same trail.

According to police, the same man had approached the two girls several times in June and July, offering them candy and cookies.

Police caught Casanova after one of the girls recognized him as being a friend of someone she knew. The 7-year-old girl also identified Casanova as the man who lured her from her home.
