February 25, 2010 – Newton, Mass. – A pedestrian suffered a serious head injury after she was struck by a car Tuesday night as she crossed the street in Newton, Mass.
According to WickedLocal, a 47-year-old woman from Newton was crossing near the corner of Capital and Watertown streets at about 6 p.m. when she was struck by a Toyota driven by a 44-year-old resident of West Roxbury. The pedestrian victim suffered internal injuries and a traumatic brain injury and is in critical condition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Authorities said the Toyota had a green light as it drove westward on Watertown Street in a 30 mph zone. The crosswalk lights were not activated, according to police. The Newton pedestrian accident remains under investigation and police have not yet released the name of the victim or the driver.
