One Dead, One Injured After Truck Crashes into New Hampshire River

January 29, 2010 - Winchester. N.H. - One person died and another was rescued after the truck they were riding in plunged into New Hampshire's Ashuelot River on Thursday.

According to Boston.com, rescuers found one person still alive after the car accident, whom they were able to rescue. They also found another person in the truck, who unfortunately had already passed away. Dive teams were sent into the river soon after the crash.

While no one yet knows exactly what occurred, it is believed that the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle after hitting snow on Route 10. It then appeared to have left the road, hit a fence and a shed, and then sank into the river.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
