Pedestrian struck by Falmouth police car

James Eldredge
, age 23, was struck and seriously injured by a police car on Wednesday night as he was walking with a friend along Sandwich road in Falmouth.

Eldredge's brother, Jonathan Eldredge, said in an interview that police told him that they were responding to a domestic abuse call when one cruiser braked suddenly, perhaps because he thought Eldredge might be connected to the incident. The cruiser was then rear-ended by another police car, causing it to strike Eldredge during the accident.

Eldredge suffered injuries to his head and leg and was initially transported to Falmouth Hospital, then moved to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
