Police Officer Injured By Drunk Driver in Norton Car Crash

February 1, 2010 - Norton -
A police officer was injured after a 25-year-old driving under the influence of alcohol rammed his vehicle into that of the patrolman early Saturday morning in Norton, Mass.

According to the Boston Herald, Timothy Wall Jr. passed a police officer on Route 140 at about 1 a.m. while traveling 70 mph in a 40 mph zone. When pursued by the officer, Wall attempted to elude him by veering into oncoming traffic. Once Wall pulled over, he put his car in reverse, ramming the cruiser behind him hard enough for it to be pushed backward several feet.

Officer David Schepis sustained minor personal injuries in the Norton crash. Wall is being charged with:

  • assault and battery with a dangerous weapon;
  • failure to stop for a police officer and;
  • operating a vehicle under the influence.

This is Wall's second drunk-driving offense.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of
car accidents in Massachusetts.

We are thankful that such a serious car accident did not result in any fatalities. Our firm joins the families and friends of those involved in praying that their loved ones recover soon.

We understand that the Norton Police Department's Accident Division is looking into the drunk driving accident. However, even while the police are investigating Saturday's crash, we suggest that those injured consider consulting a
Massachusetts personal injury lawyer.
