Police Officer Who Struck Jogger in Weymouth Identified

January 29, 2010 – Abington - The police officer who struck 39-year-old pedestrian Paula Deminico as she jogged in Weymouth has been identified as Lt. Brian Hermes. The woman, who has been recovering at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, is now in good condition.

According to WickedLocal.com, the car accident is still under investigation to determine the cause, but so far is considered accidental. Hermes did get out of his unmarked Ford Taurus police cruiser immediately after he struck Deminico in order to offer first aid while they waited for the ambulance.

While state police will likely create a reconstruction of the pedestrian accident, Hermes mentioned that a bus was blocking his vision at the time of the crash.

We are thankful that such a serious car accident did not result in any fatalities. Our firm joins the families and friends of those involved in praying that their loved ones recover soon.

We understand that the Weymouth Police Department’s Accident Division is looking into the pedestrian accident. However, even while the police are investigating Friday crash, we suggest that those injured consider consulting a Massachusetts personal injury lawyer.
