February 26, 2010 – Sandwich, Mass. – A man suffered minor personal injuries in a single-car accident that knocked out power for about 200 people Wednesday night in Sandwich, Mass.
Cape Cod Times reports Michael Jusseaume, 28, was driving south on Route 130 late Wednesday night when his Dodge sedan left the road on a curve and subsequently hit a curb and struck a utility pole. The impact was so strong that it broke the pole and the vehicle was totaled in the crash.
Jusseaume suffered minor personal injuries and about 200 NStar customers lost power for about 2 to 5 hours after the Route 130 crash. Authorities believe that speed may have been a factor in this single-car accident.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
