Rob Spencer Injured in Snowboarding Accident at Crotched Mountain

Rob Spencer, 21, of Billerica, Massachusetts was seriously injured in a snowboarding accident at Crotched Mountain in Bennington, New Hampshire over the weekend.

WMUR reported that the snowboarder was attempting a jump overnight Friday during the mountain’s “Midnight Madness,” when he fell backwards and hit his head.

According to the Bennington Police Department, Spencer was wearing a helmet at the time of the fall. He suffered three broken vertebrae and a broken sternum, so he was flown by a helicopter to a Massachusetts hospital.

Crotched Mountain’s “Midnight Madness” is held on Fridays and Saturdays at night until 3 a.m. This accident occurred just before closing time, around 2:45 a.m.

While snowboarding is a great winter sport, as any other sport, it carries a certain level of danger of injury, so it was smart of Spencer to at least wear a helmet. We sincerely wish him a speedy recovery from his injuries.
