Senior Drivers Collide in Woburn Crash

July 1, 2009 – Woburn – A 78-year-old woman is in critical condition this morning after being involved in a senior driving car accident with an 83-year-old man yesterday at the intersection of Russell Street and Old Cambridge Road in Woburn, MA.

According to police reports, the elderly man “pulled out of Old Cambridge Road into oncoming traffic on Russell Street” when he hit the woman’s car head-on. Rescue workers responding to the car accident were required to use the Jaws of Life for almost an hour to free the elderly woman from her car.

The woman’s injuries have been described as “life threatening” and she is currently listed in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital. The senior man and his wife were also injured and hospitalized following the Woburn car crash.

The 83-year-old male driver is going to be charged with negligent operation and may have his license suspended, depending on “the outcome of the charges”.
