Following the ever-growing number of infant injuries and deaths, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced new recalls. The CPSC and C&T International/Sorelle, of East Rutherford, New Jersey (previously known as Golden Baby Inc) are recalling 170,000 Drop-Side Cribs.
The recalled drop-side cribs have hardware that can disengage from the tracks, causing the drop side to detach from the crib. Even when the drop-side is partially detached, it poses a strangulation risk to infants since they can slide down and become entrapped in the space between the drop side and the crib mattress. This can lead to strangulation and/or suffocation.
Consumers of drop-side cribs should stop using them, or trying to repair faulty cribs.
This news comes after some of the major crib manucaturers agreed to perform more stringent safety tests on cribs.
