The Boston Globe is reporting today that a teenage male died this morning in a single-vehicle crash on Route 140 North in New Bedford.
The accident was described as a rollover accident and happened during the morning commute around 7:30 a.m. The unidentified teen was declared dead at the scene of the accident, while two other unnamed individuals in the car were rushed to an area hospital for medical treatment. It is not known at this time who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The northbound lanes of Route 140 were shut down while police investigated and reconstructed the scene. Commuters were diverted and significant back-ups were reported as a result. One of the northbound lanes was opened to traffic an hour later.
Officials are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fatal crash.
