Toddler’s Death at Daycare Results in Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The tragic death of a Las Vegas toddler in January 2009 resulted in a wrongful death lawsuit against the daycare that was caring for the child at the time of his fatal accident.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, the 18-month-old victim, Jordan Williams, drowned in a hot tub while under the care of a North Las Vegas day care center that has since lost its license and closed its doors. 

The family of the young victim has brought a wrongful death lawsuit against Marisela's Family Day Care, making claims that the owner acted in a negligent manner and caused the drowning death of the toddler.

Listed below are a few of the circumstances surrounding the fatal drowning accident:

• The owner of the daycare facility, Marisela Carvajal, said there were three children, including Williams, under her care at the time of the accident
• Williams and the other two children supposedly were playing in a "gated outdoor" area of the daycare's yard just before the drowning
• Carvajal left the children unattended in a yard that included a hot tub
• Carvajal admits that she could not hear the children from inside the house
• Without proper supervision, two of the children were able to wander into the area with the hot tub, which led directly to Williams' drowning
