Truck Driver Charged in Fatal Mass. Pike Accident


January 21, 2010 - Grafton - Massachusetts State Police have charged 61-year-old truck driver Ken Lava with vehicular homicide by negligence as well as marked lanes and breakdown lane violations in connection to a Massachusetts Turnpike accident that resulted in the death of Dennis Scott.

According to reports in The Boston Globe, Lava will face charges in Worcester District Court to face charges stemming from a Decemeber 8, 2009 truck accident where the truck being driven by Lava struck 36-year-old Scott as he was working on a diasbled tractor-trailer in the breakdown lane of the Mass. Turnpike.

Scott was pronounced dead at the scene of the fatal truck accident. The truck driver of the disabled truck, Tony Benoit, was sitting in the cab of the truck at the time of the crash and was transported to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center with serious injuries.

We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the Dennis Scott for their tragic and heartbreaking loss. Our heart goes out to everybody who knew and loved him. Please keep them in your prayers. We also wish Tony Benoit the best for a quick and complete recovery from his injuries.
