Victims Identified in Fatal Holyoke and Springfield Car Crashes


January 21, 2010 - Springfield - The victims in two recent car crashes in Springfield and Holyoke have been identified by local police.

According to reports in Masslive.com, police have identified the 21-year-old fatal victim of a Springfield car crash that took place on January 19th as Toni Bushey of Chicopee. Police believe speed was a major factor in the single-car crash that also sent James Garnes and Erin Fett to Baystate Medical Center.

Also identified by police was the fatal victim of a recent car accident on Route 5 as 42-year-old John Hughes also of Chicopee. Hughes was killed in a tragic single-vehicle car accident when he lost control of his Chevy Camaro and struck a utility pole, splitting the pole in two.

Our sincere condolences go out to all of the victims of these tragic car accidents.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts
