West Newbury Man Found Guilty for Vehicular Homicide on Two Counts

A 43-year-old West Newbury man was found guilty of two counts of vehicular homicide regarding the June 2009 collision with a motorcycle, and was given the maximum sentence of 21/2 years in prison, Newbury Port News reports.

The Newburyport District Court jury found Alan T. Pearsall guilty of two counts of vehicular homicide by negligent driving and responsible for a marked lanes violation and failure to drive in the right lane.

The charges stem from a car/motorcycle crash on Bachelor Street in West Newbury that killed a Haverhill couple.

Pearsall, who is a local artist and muralist, will serve two years on the first count of vehicular homicide of Earl Morris, and five years’ probation on the second count of vehicular homicide of Maryella Morris.

Pearsall was also sentenced to a 15-year loss of license for each count.
