Woman Suffers Facial Injuries in Needham Crash

February 26, 2010 – Needham, Mass. – A woman suffered personal injuries after crashing her car into a utility pole Sunday night on May Street in Needham.

According to WickedLocal, a police officer was nearby on Garden Street when he heard the crash. Upon reaching the scene of the single-car accident, he found the female accident victim, estimated to be about 18 years old, sitting on the ground. The victim’s Nissan Altima had apparently struck a utility pole, resulting in extensive damage to the front of the vehicle. The young woman suffered facial injuries and injuries to her right wrist, and was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.

The car accident is still under investigation, but a witness claims that the woman did not seem to be speeding, nor was she on her cell phone. Authorities have not yet released the name of the accident victim. 

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 Massachusetts Crash Statistics, there were 363 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Massachusetts.
