2010 Generation 2 Crib Recall

For infants and toddlers, a crib is meant to be a haven of security and comfort. For parents, the crib is the place they deposit their greatest treasure for safekeeping.

Sadly, a defective crib can be a dangerous-or even deadly-trap for an innocent child.

Earlier this year, the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSP) announced the recall of Generation 2 Worldwide and ChildESIGNS drop-side cribs. While injuries have been confirmed involving certain models, the CPSP is recalling ALL cribs made by this manufacturer.

The Generation 2 and drop-side cribs have dangerous manufacturing defects, including:

  • The drop side of the crib detaches from the crib’s corner, creating a space large enough for a child to roll into. In some cases, the crib is missing 2 screws.
  • The mattress support detaches from the crib, causing the child to fall out of the crib.

The faulty Generation 2 crib has been linked to the tragic deaths of 3 infants and numerous child injuries.

In September 2002, a 6-month-old baby in Virginia died from suffocation in a Generation 2 Crib. He slipped into the gap created when the drop side of the crib became detached.

October 2003 and August 2007 saw the deaths of 2 more children under similar circumstances.

There have also been multiple reports of close calls in which the parent found and rescued their child from suffocating in the defective Generation 2 crib. Children have suffered injuries that range from bruising to broken bones when they became trapped or fell out of the recalled crib.

If Your Child Has Been Injured In an Accident Involving a Recalled Crib

If your child has been injured in an accident involving a recalled Generation 2 or ChildESIGN crib, you should seek the counsel of a Boston child injury attorney right away.

Your child injury attorney will help you seek compensation for the trauma and pain your family has suffered due to the recalled Generation 2 or ChildESIGN crib. In cases where there are many incidents of injury or death resulting from a defective product, there is a great deal of evidence to support the case against the manufacturer.

As in any personal injury case however, you will need to gather the medical bills resulting from your child’s injuries. If you suffered any lost wages while attending to your injured child, you can present proof of that as well.

When selecting a Boston child injury attorney you’ll want to ask critical questions such as; how long have you been practicing law; do you have experience with child accident cases in Boston, Massachusetts; what is the biggest settlement or verdict you have won?
