- Power tool accidents
- Collapses and/or cave-ins
- Exposure to dangerous materials, i.e. asbestos, leads, etc.
Many construction accidents occur when heavy equipment is used. Also, the use of dangerous chemicals can increase injury rates of the workers and people in the surrounding areas.
Furthermore, construction accidents are prevalent when construction bosses and employees ignore safety rules in order to expedite a project to save time and costs. Cutting corners doesn’t really seem like a big deal until someone gets hurt. The cost of ignoring safety is much higher than the amount of time and/or money saved by cutting corners.
In order to improve the safety rate in construction, a culture shift will need to occur within management and workers alike. Both parties need to make safety a priority because the loss of one life is too many.
