New study shows insured kids will help economy
According to UPI, a recent study indicates that there is evidence that providing health insurance for the nine million children currently uninsured would have a major economic impact. Vivian Ho of the Baylor College of Medicine and Rice University’s Baker Institute and Marah Short, also of the Baker Institute in Houston, researched studies published in peer-reviewed journals to determine the economic impact of not insuring all children in this country.
According to UPI, the researchers said that providing health insurance for those uninsured children would result in healthier children, more productive adults, and substantial economic benefits for the country. The UPI article indicated that the researchers feel the evidence is clear that universal coverage of all children actually saves costs which benefits society.
