$6.5 Million Settlement for Child Injured at Birth
Date: January 9, 2009
Settlement Amount: $6.5 Million
A 6.5 Million settlement has been reached in a Chicago birth injury suit. Seven year old Roberto Morales suffered permanent and serious birth injuries when he was born in 2001. The suit alleged that the Nurse and Doctor failed to attend to the child’s low heart rate and diminished oxygen. He was subsequently born with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and metabolic acidosis. Subsequent to his birth, Roberto was hospitalized for an extensive time and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He has limited mobility and this settlement will help pay for his life long care.
