Brockton Pit Bull Shot by Police for Alleged Attack
The owner of a pit bull that was shot by police on Sunday after it allegedly tried to attack a police officer, said that her dog was only barking, not trying to attack.
Teresa Centeio’s 3-year-old pit bull named Ace was shot and killed by a police officer who was answering a call Sunday afternoon on Park Street in Brockton, Mass. The dog was brought outside Centeio’s cousin who unleashed it to urinate when the officer came up. The pit bull started to bark at the officer, so Centeio’s cousin called the dog and told it to sit. She said the dog sat down but was still barking when the police officer James Baroud shot it.
“He was sitting down when the officer shot him in the face,” Centeio said.
Police Chief William Conlon said Baroud “didn’t have time do do anything other than what he did.”
Centeio witnessed her dog’s shooting and became upset because no one would help her dog as he lay dying on the ground, Enterprise News reported.
She described the dog as a family pet and said it got along well with children. Centeio and two other people were arrested after the pit bull was shot for disrespecting the police.

This news of an alleged pit bull attack on humans comes only 2 days after 3 pit bulls attacked a UMass college student in New Bedford causing serious facial injuries from viscious bites.
Pit bulls are notorious for their tendency to attack. These animals will lock their jaws on their victims, causing severe injury. They have also been known to maul people to death, so it helps explain why the officer’s first reaction was to shoot the dog.
